German Stamp dealer issued 20 signed stamp blocks in the early 1970s - these stamp blocks are considered the first big commercial signing the astronauts (then Mercury / Gemini / Apollo) did! After his liquidation in February 2024 we got our hands on a limited amount of complete Sieger stamp collections.

Complete set of ALL 20 signed stamp blocks including these names :

Neil Armstrong (Belgium), John Glenn (Ras Al Khaima), Alan Bean (Romania), Frank Borman (Ajman), Scott Carpenter (Paraguay), Gene Cernan (Ajman), Charles Conrad (Ras-Al-Kaima), Gordon Cooper (Paraguay), Walt Cunningham (Ajman), Jim McDivitt (Yemen), Donn Eisele (Yemen), James Lovell (Romania), Stuart Roosa (Hungary), Jack Swigert (Romania), Wally Schirra (Paraguay), Rusty Schweickart (Yemen), Tom Stafford (Yemen), Richard Gordon (Hunguay), Dave Scott (Sharjah) and Edgar Mitchell (Romania).

These collections were originally offered at 2450,- DM in the 70s - which was around $800-$1000 considering inflation etc. now after 50 years this was a pretty high price - lately Sieger was selling a complete series at close to $4000 via his company.

These stamp blocks also represent the only commercial signing Neil Armstrong ever did before he stopped signing philatelic items. It was also the stamp block from that series that caused Jack Swigert to be bumped from the ASTP prime crew for denying having these signed for money (then each astronaut got $5 per block).

The story is well described in various astronaut autobiographies such as "The All American Boys by Walt Cunningham", and "Carrying the Fire by Michael Collins" and mentioned in several other books as well.

Today it is believed that originally 500 of these complete sets were then offered by Sieger.
